Tree Surgery

Tree Practice offers a range of traditional tree surgery services which include:

Crown Reduction

This involves the reduction of a tree's crown back to a growth point to achieve a particular shape or restrict a tree's crown spread. The reduction is carried out in a sympathetic manner which is not detrimental to the health of the tree. This type of work can be carried out on a tree where the root system is thought to be unstable, in an effort to stabilise the tree

Crown Cleaning

This is the removal of major deadwood and crossing branches. This type of work is carried out in conjunction with an assessment of the health of the tree to determine if the tree is under stress, which might therefore be causing more dead wood as a result

Pollarding

This is the cutting back of branches to a particular point, known as a knuckle, in order to achieve a particularly shaped tree. However, it may also be an opportunity for a home owner to harvest fire wood whilst still retaining a tree in their garden. The process of pollarding is normally carried out annually but it may be undertaken every 5-6 years, depending on the species.

Tree Felling / Dismantling

This may be necessary in the case of dead, dying or dangerous trees, or if the tree has simply outgrown its location and is no longer suitable. Our arborists are suitably qualified and experienced to section-fell trees which are growing in a confined space. We can remove all arising material or if required the timber can be left on site to be used as fire wood.

All our arborists have experience in working in trees which may offer potential bat roosting opportunities (particularly of large, mature specimens); this prevents the risk of injury to bats, which are a European Protected Species. If it arises that bats or other protected species are at risk we can provide expert advice on how best to carry out the work.
If you require any further information on any of the above subjects please contact us and we will be more than happy to discuss your needs.
